A native New Yorker, bassist, vocalist, composer, and arranger Lana Fusco has been exposed to jazz from inception. Raised by her jazz guitarist father, she’s been humming Bird for as long as she can remember. Lana began her formal musical journey at the age of five, studying rhythm, before picking up the guitar and later embracing the upright bass at eight. Decidedly old-school, she is a bassist with traditionalist roots, with an unwavering commitment to a harmonic richness and a deep pocket.
Earning her Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from New York University, Lana has had the opportunity to study under renowned bassists Drew Gress, Dezron Douglas, and Mike Richmond, as well as taken lessons with Nat Reeves. She has also performed and recorded original music with, and under the instruction of Alan Ferber, Tony Moreno, Brandon Lee, Billy Drewes, Dion Tucker, and Brad Shepik. Lana has studied voice throughout her college career with vocalist and educator Laura Kay.
